Mothers Day Treat

For Mothers Day this year- Chelsie, Mikaila & I took my mom to get pampered. We had hoped for a girls weekend, but unless we wanted to wait until next year for all of us to be available for a weekend, we just did a day. We heard about this place in Walnut Creek that had a coupon for a Mani-Pedi for $25 which is a good deal. And they sounded great. We had no idea what we were getting into.

Unfortunately, they had to split us up. They had 5 chairs but someone was in the middle chair. They had 3 woman and then one male helper who did all of the massages. And let me tell you- they do massage well. You get your legs/feet massaged for about 30 minutes. You also get your arms/shoulders done during your manicure. Then, while your nails are drying they give you a shoulder/back massage. It was great!

After massages/nails, we met dad, Justin & Paige at some place in Danville. I don't think we would go there again. But it was fun to try some place new. Then we went back to my parents house and played some tripoly. It was a great day.

Hickory Dickory Dock

Paige loves to sing. Her favorite nursery rhyme/song right now is Hickory Dickory Dock.

Paige and Stomper the Elephant

Justin took Paige to the A's game a couple of weeks ago. When you ask her what they did there, she will tell you all about "Stomper" the Elephant and how they could not find him. She is getting better at pronouncing his name, but you can see that she says what appears to be a bad word first.

Kids say the Funniest Things

Paige: "Daddy- You gonna show me something?"
Daddy: "Sure- what do you want to see?"
Paige: "You show me a fart through a magnifying glass?"
Daddy:" You want me to show you a fart through a magnifying glass?"
Paige: "Yeah"

Yin/Yang of parenting

I realized this morning how much Justin & I really balance each other out in parenting. I do not know how either one of us would do this without the other.

Last night, while I was cooking dinner- I heard Justin panicking in the garage. I seriously thought we were going to need to go to the emergency room. Paige comes in with blood running down her chin. She had fallen and busted her lip. It wasn't bad at all. I cleaned it up gave her an ice pack and she went back to playing.

This morning, I was cuddling with her and she started gagging. I turned her around quickly and started panicking- asking Justin to get a towel. In the meantime she was starting to throw up in my hand. As soon as Justin got there with the towel, I handed her off and ran to the bathroom myself.

I can't handle throw up very well, and Justin can't handle blood. But together, we make a good team.

Paige's 1st Soccer Lessons

Thanks to a birthday/Christmas present from Ron & Dana, we were able to sign Paige up for Daddy & me Soccer lessons through the city. It has been a lot of fun for both of them. Mostly the two year olds run around, but there is structure and they are learning how to kick the ball and not use their hands. My mom made her a cute soccer outfit which she loves.

50's style photo shoot

A friend of mine is building her photography portfolio and she asked if I would be willing to model for her. Of course I did! I borrowed some 50's dresses from my best friend, Mikaila did my hair and we pulled out the old car. It was a lot of fun. Here is the photo book that I created with the pictures.

Visiting my Aunt Cheryl- April 2010

My Aunt Cheryl and cousin Alicyn have not been able to meet Paige yet. Work has been good for Justin, and Paige is getting better with traveling so we decided to finally take the 5 1/2 hour drive to Southern California to visit. We left around Lunchtime on Friday. We took Mikaila with us. While Paige did only sleep 45 minutes on the way down, she did very well. She just watched movies and played games. We got in around dinner time. Got settled in. Paige & Gaven had a great time playing together until it was well past bedtime for Paige. It took a while to get her to sleep, but she slept fairly well. She did wake up at 6AM anyways, but it was not a bad night.

Saturday, we went to lunch at Red Lobster. Chelsie drove up from San Diego to hang out with us. We went shopping at our favorite store, the T-Mart and then headed off to Charlie Brown Farms. This is where we bought our favorite pickles, and some great beef jerkey. I bought a coffee shake, and got Paige a sugar free strawberry shake which she loved.

She did not nap well that day either. We had a great dinner, including some Lobster tails. But I was late coming down for dinner because it took Paige a while to get to sleep. We had a great time laughing as a family, and went to bed a while later. Paige did wake up a few times, but I just rubbed her back for a minute and she was back asleep. Not much sleep for me though.

On Sunday, we headed out to LA and went to a farmers market. We had lunch and did some shopping. Chelsie headed home from there, and we drove back to Palmdale. We loaded up the car and headed home. Got in about 10:30 and went right to sleep. It was a fun, but exhasting trip.

The kids all had a great time playing with Justin, who explored the skateparks and streets of Palmdale. They also took a bath together, which was so cute. And we went "Swimming" in the hot tub.

Easter 2010

The day before Easter we were going down to Santa Cruz for our friends, Jerry & Kelly, son(Landon) 1st birthday party. It was at a Park, and while it was a little chilly, the rain held out and we had a great time. They had a bubble machine and we knew that we needed to get Paige one. She was mesmerized for a long time just catching the bubbles.

We then drove out to Watsonville and picked up Justin's Grandma. She came and spent the night and hung out with my family for Easter. We had a nice relaxing evening and enjoyed catching up with her. On Easter Sunday, we all got up early. Justin took his Grandma to Easter Mass at a local Catholic church. We then got dressed up and headed to our own service after they got back.

After church, we spent the afternoon with my family. My mom cooked ribs (At the request of Chelsie who was visiting from college), a brisket, sweet potato casserole, scalloped potatoes, fruit salad. It was great. As usual we had some great appetizers including spinach dip that was in the belly of a bunny rabbit.

It was a wonderful day, and we were sad to take Grandma home.

My new Haircut (March 2010)

I have been in desperate need of a haircut. Money has been tight so I can no longer spend $100+ every few months on my hair. A couple of ladies I work with went to this place near our work and got some great cuts. The place has a referral program. The person who gets referred gets half off and the person who refers them gets a free haircut. For $22 after tip, I thought I would give her a shot. And I decided to chop it off since it was starting to get hotter. I was very happy and it is so easy to take care off. Plus I then referred someone else, so my next haircut is free. Now I just need it colored.

March 2010

March seemed to fly by so quickly, that I am not sure what happened during the month. Certainly not anything too life changing. Here are some pictures to keep you updated. We bought Paige a new helmet (Dora the explorer) and she has been learning how to ride her tricycle. But mostly we have to push her. And Justin had a photo shoot of his own (I will get around to posting mine soon enough). So those photos are below.

February 2010

Time really flies around here. I just can't believe how fast it goes. In effort to keep you updated with all things Huffman Family related I am going to try to remember the things we did in February. I am hoping the pictures that I have will help guide my memory. But they are not in a particular order.

One very exciting thing for me is that I went on my first official business trip to Canada. We flew into Vancouver the Monday before the Olympics started and left on Wednesday. We had decided to move our product to a new warehouse and went up to get them started. I was really honored to have been invited on this trip- it is not often that we get to go places. Especially places in another country. I was really nervous. Being a girl, I was mostly nervous about what someone wears on a business trip that involves a warehouse. Being so young, I wanted to look professional and so I set off to Ross with some Christmas money and was able to get some nice outfits. The trip was a lot of fun, and while there was not a lot of sight seeing, we ate good and I was able to meet a salesman that I have been dealing with for at least 8 years now. It was really fun. And now I have been attempting at dressing better. "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have" a friend advised me. So I am slowly building a more professional wardrobe despite the somewhat casual workplace.

That being said- my purse my mom made me (Which I loved) was starting to fall apart and I have been wanting a new one. So I set my heart on this purse. Most people would have to agree that this purse was made for me and who I am. I had the nice lady who made it add a flat bow to give it a slightly more feminine touch.

We were able to get down to Santa Cruz and spend an afternoon with Justin's Grandma. It is always such a delight being around her. We wish we could spend more time with her. And it always makes me miss my grandparents more.

Justin's brother Dan came and brought our niece Teagan up for a visit while his wife Michelle was judging a gymnastics tournament. I just love holding such a little baby again, and it did make me think harder about another one. But trying to take care of Paige while I was holding Teagan proved to be difficult. I think we will definitely be getting a sling or something for the next one because I need my hands free. And Paige had a hard time watching me hold another baby. But I enjoyed every second.
Justin's team- THE COLTS- made it to the Superbowl this year. So for one day, Paige & I dressed up in Colts Gear (My mom had bought a kids jersey for her a while ago- so even though it was big- she wore it). Unfortunately they did not win but it felt good to be able to root for the same team for a change.

Other than that, I think February was somewhat uneventful. We are looking forward to the warmer weather, and are being teased by mother nature right now.

I had a photo shoot in 50's style dress and the car- I will try to get to posting those pics soon.
