2015 Paigeisms!

  • Oh my.. this kid. Paige just told me that sometimes her gut hurts with growth pains. I said that's a little weird. She said "not the part that makes me pee silly. .. the skin. I mean do you think I will be a size 7 forever".
  • Paige is of the morning "mom I don't shake them (the presents). I just go for them"
  • Just encountered one of Paige's weird night talking events. She called my name. When I went in she just looked at me and said cinnamon. I said what? She said cinnamon. Her eyes are wide open. I asked if she was awake no response she looked around the room for a minute and then went back to sleep. This child of mine always quite an adventure
  • Paigism of the night "mom, maybe I will soon be the tallest in my class
    .. I am just a grower"
  • Paige while going pee after getting off the plane. If I peed coins right now we would be rich
  • Paige describing how her gut feels when riding the double shot at the Santa Cruz boardwalk. "You know like when you eat a lemon and your mouth is sour. Yeah your gut feels like that'
  • Got off the freeway at our exit and Paige says "yay we are almost home. I know this place... I have lived here my whole life!". Justin says she is getting so big that soon enough you will be riding in the front. Then Paige says "I would like my own personal limo". Keep dreaming kid
  • Mom... If you and dad ever want to go out you can just order a baby sitter from care.com
". TV advertising at its best..
  • Saturday Paige said "Mom at target in Tracy I saw Adam. He was on a sign". It took me a while to realize she was talking about Adam Levine as if he was an old friend. Do we watch The Voice too much?
  • Mom... Today at school I saw my arch nemesis. He goes to my school.
  • Paige is desperately trying to get her top front tooth out. Justin Huffman asked if she really wanted to be the girl with both front teeth gone that badly. She said... Yes I want to be able to sing that song at Christmas (all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth). The logic of a 7 year old.
  • Paige: "mom I look just like Chelsie... We have the same hair and eyes.". I am thinking she is talking about her aunt Chelsie Wright and thinking that they don't have the same color eyes etc and then she says "the barbie Chelsea" That makes a lot more sense

Paigisms 2014

  • While watching the voice "Mom, why does that girls mom let her wear a dress that shows her boobs. That's inappropriate.". Can I just say that I love her understanding of modesty already!
  •  Heard at our dinner table. "I think I am a little more Pidgeon than Huffman. Because mom used to be a Pidgeon and I came out of her"
  • After a night of little sleep i woke up to this.. to mom: I love you through heaven. You play games with me. That is why you are special.
  •  Watching the voice... Paige says "that guys hair looks like daddy's and that girls hair looks like Chelsie's. Its like daddy married Chelsie." To be clear this was about a black guy and an Asian girl. Hmmm
  • While watching the voice, Paige is working on drawing little books that she is going to sell for $1 to raise money for Disneyland. Then she said she was going to ask Nana for $100 for one. When I explained that was a lot of money for a book she said she was going to make a whole box for $100. Oh well then that makes more sense right?
  • At the Doctors office this morning, Paige was so quiet and lethargic. But there were moments I knew she was still there. Once she looked at me and said "Mom- I can call nana- grandma or nana- because they mean the same thing". And a little while later, she said "Someone told me that my eyes were OCEAN blue".
  •  I was listening to Brad Paisley's "This is COuntry Music" and it reminded me of the song Paige wrote the other day. It was called "This aint country music" or something like that. I asked her why and she said because it isn't a true song. Country Music is all about life and stuff that is true!
  • Paige & Justin went to the park early this morning before it rains. She came back and I saw that she was still in her nightgown. Then she said "Mom, I almost lubricated my leg at the park!" After a little laughter and a few questions she believes she almost broke or cut off her leg. She is fine, but sometimes the things that come out are just too funny.
  • Justin, Paige & I were out front playing Chutes & Ladders with our neighbor, Tim. Another neighbor stops by to check out the camping action. He sees Tim and asks Paige if this is a sleepover. She says sure, you can sleep under my bed (She has a loft bed) and Tim can sleep on my bed. It was such a funny conversation. Tim & Justin will be sleeping in their own comfy beds, as will I- Too cold out there for me.
  • Paige at bedtime: "Wouldn't it be great if there was a magic typewriter. And if you typed in something like, I want a tree that grows money and never dies, it would create one. And then we would always have money"
  • Paige picked out her outfit today and when she asked me about what shoes to wear, i suggested a pair that matched. But she said "Why does everything have to match in my life?"
  • Wait... Let me sit.like a proper princess before you take my picture.
  • When I picked Paige up from daycare today, she announced "I am engaged. I have a boyfriend". When I asked her who the guy is she said Alex- he is a high schooler. Yes we have had a conversation about what a "Boyfriend" and "Being engaged" really means. But wow!

2013 Paigeisms!

  • During dinner, Paige says "When I grow up, I want to be on the worship team". Then she proceeded to make up a song about how great that would be. A girl after my own heart (And one who loves Jesus!).
  • Paige today "Kayla, how to do you spell ABC's?" Kayla "How do you think?".. Paige "A....B..... and then lots of C since it is C's...."
  • Last, Justin was asking Paige if she wanted to be a hairdresser when she grows up (She is always doing my hair and getting really good at braids). We were watching the Voice so she simply replied (Very matter a fact like). No, I am going to be on this show. But maybe I will be a hairdresser too.
  • Paige has been obsessed with hearing aids lately. Apparently, one of her friends has one at school and she thinks it is so cool and wants one. I love that so far my little girl has two best friends who are Indian, and a friend with a hearing aid! None of those things are important to her and that makes my heart so happy. I hope that she can continue to go along in a life where the color of our skin does not matter and "disabilities" don't ever cross her mind. And I hope that Justin Huffman & I can lead by example.
  • Paige was watching The Voice with me today and she was getting into it. Two things were worth mentioning. When I mentioned Usher's name she said "Like Gushers??" She also sang me a song that was about Jesus. When she was done and I was telling her that I loved it of course, she said "Yeah- I know- I should bring it to the church huh?" Love the confidence of my little girl.
  •  Paige came home from school yesterday talking about how they found a poisonous lizard at school. They knew that it was poisonous because it had red eyes. And it was not a lizard but a type of lizard. Sometimes, I just don't know what to think when she speaks.
  •  I have been using the phrase "Asked and Answered" when Paige asks me the same question more than once expecting a different answer. And it is working for the most part. However, she told me yesterday at dinner that someone wanted to play with her but, you know, she just can't play with EVERYONE so she told them "Asked and Answered". I wonder what that kid thought?
  • Paige is sooo my daughter... she just said "I'm in love with three people... Brock (the teenage son of the previous children's director at our church) , Justin Beiber, an lucus ( her cousin)....no 4 people... my dad too.
  • Last Night, in practically the same sentance Paige said the following:"When I grow up and go on the voice, Will you watch me?""What if I was a baby bunny and never grew up?"
  •  Conversation with Paige during the voice .Paige: mom who's your favorite?I started to answer ans she said.. " No not on the voice but your favorite girl in the whole world" I told her it was her. The she said who is your favorite singer and I replied my sister Mikaila of course. She said me too. Taylor Swift and Mikaila are my favorite.

Paigisms April 2012

Things Paige has said or done recently!

Paige "Dear Jesus- Please give me a Boy Baby Sister.. Amen"
Me Justin- Text that to me so I can write it down!"
Paige "Text it to Jesus!"

After opening her Easter basket and doing a little egg hunt in the living room, Paige says to us "This Easter was a success! Thats fancy for fun"!

Paige announced when I got home that today she "Tried to pee like daddy". And it "got all over her" but most of it made it into the potty. Still trying to figure out exactly what that means.

I walked in on Paige biting her toenails. I stopped her right away and trimmed them for her. I was disgusted but at the same time I was amazed that she was flexible enough to get her toes in her mouth.

Update 5/1/12:
My mom & Nana were out with Paige today and found a wishing fountain.  They gave her a coin and she made a wish in a wisper voice.  Both my mom & Nana heard "Ice Cream" so they took her to get some after they picked up Kayla.  They asked her if this is what she wished for and she said "No this is great but I wished that Papa would be King"

Things Paige Says Summer 2011

Paige: "Can one of you get me some popcorn? Because my tummy is telling me that it want popcorn. Did you know that your tummy talks to you?"

Paige: "Mom- whats in your tummy?" Me: "Fat", Paige"It looks like I have a new baby brother or sister coming"

After finding a picture of Chelsie from Highschool:
Paige: "Who is is?, Me:"Who do you think?", Paige (After looking at it for a minute) "Chelsie!! Can I take it to my room?" Me: Sure, Paige "Mom- What kind of Chelsie is this?"

My dad gave her one of those recordable books where he recorded himself reading "The Night before Christmas". The other night she said "That book that Papa reads to me in Spain is about Christmas" I think she really thinks he is reading it to her from Spain. And when she was reading it by herself at bedtime it stopped working because the booklight was not bright enough. She kept tapping it saying "Come on Papa!".

At dinner the other night she asked "When you go potty in heaven, which way do you go?" I think she was referring to where the bathrooms are.

While watching a fireworks show, Paige turned to me and said 'That one looks like Justin Beiber!

She refers to Kunfu Panda a "Comfortable Panda"

Update 9/14/11
According to Paige, I am now a teenager and Mikaila is an adult! Because I haven't been feeling well, I have been resting a lot and Mikaila gets up early for school again. And teenagers sleep all day- so Mommy must be a teenager.

At school today, she saw a bulldozer and was very excited about it. While telling us about it at dinner, she exclaimed: "And I ordered him to put princess stickers on it!". I asked her if he did and she said "No. And I am still mad at him!".

Our little lawyer

I am pretty sure most 3 year olds don't put as much thought into things as my daughter. Maybe they do, but she really amazes us with her comebacks. You can't tell her something that isn't true because she will prove you wrong. And she will not stop until you tell her "Why". When you do answer, it better make sense or you start over again.

She had a little fever a few weeks ago. She kept asking why she was sick. I told her she must have a flu bug (I know- when will I learn?). After she got over the "bug" portion again, she kept asking how she caught the bug? I tried to explain that germs are everywhere, but that wasn't enough of an answer for her.

When putting her to bed, she asked me again. Since we have quite the problem with nose picking, I had a great idea. I told her that she caught the flu bug when she was picking her nose. She looked at me and said "No mom. Chelsie caught the flu bug and she doesn't pick her nose".

I have two observations. First of all, most kids her age would not have put together that kind of argument but she remembers everything and isn't afraid to tell you that you are wrong. Secondly, anytime you mention a flu bug she talks about Chelsie. Apparently, no one else she knows has ever had the flu.

What Heaven Looks like according to Paige

Last night, while driving home, Paige & I had another one of her famous conversations.

Paige: Mom, Is my Grandma coming back?
Me: What Grandma?
Paige: My other Grandma, the one in Heaven (Justin has been telling Paige all about his mom since she never got to meet her).
Me: No hunny, she is not coming back. But we will get to meet her someday when we go to heaven.
(I was afraid this was going to open the floodgates to heaven and death again, but it took a surprising turn)
Paige: Oh, then I will get to ride on the dinosaurs when I get to heaven.
Me: There are dinosaurs in heaven?
Paige: Yes, like in that movie I watched with daddy.
She went on for about 5 minutes about how cool that would be, and how nice the dinosaurs are.

We are not sure what movie she was talking about. Justin's best guess is Avatar?
Either way, she has a great imagination.

Conversations with Paige

I want to start this off with a funny thing she said last night during bath time. She said "My little boobies are getting bigger." Justin came out and told me about it and we both started laughing (She could not see us of course). I have some interesting conversations ahead of me.

Our neighbor, Betty, is really sick. She is in the hospital, and her daughter told us that she has stage 4 cancer. I am not sure why she is in the hospital and I don't know what is going to happen. Betty has been so special to us. She brought a gift over shortly after Paige was born and always remembers her on her birthday & Christmas. We had no idea she was so sick.

Yesterday afternoon, Paige had heard that she was sick and of course she told Justin that she wanted to make her a get well card (She has big heart). I am not quite sure of the conversation that followed, but I do know what it contained sparked a deep conversation at bedtime. It went a little like this.

Paige: What's wrong with Betty?
Me: She is sick
Paige: Why?
Me: I don't know- she just is
Paige Why?
Me: Well honey, sometimes people just get sick.
Paige: Why? (You can guess I felt the need to try to end this conversation)
Me: Sometimes when people get older, they get sick and go to the hospital
Paige: And sometimes they die? (This stems from the earlier conversation)
Me: Yes, everyone dies eventually.
Paige: Is Betty going to die?
Me: I hope not, why don't we pray for her.
Paige: OK MOm, but why is she sick?
Me: I am sure she just caught a bug (I didn't realize this was not going to end the conversation- only make it longer.
Paige: A bug? What kind of bug? Does it have wings? Does it fly? Does it crawl?
Me: Oh no, it is not a real bug. It is just something people say when they get sick.
Paige: Oh, Chelsie caught a bug and she got better. Is Betty going to get better?
Me: I think the best thing we can do is pray for her. It is time to go to sleep.

I really hope Betty gets better, but even if she does this time- being older with stage 4 cancer means she may not have much time left. And on top of that, Clo-e is really looking bad these days. Paige tried to climb on her (Like she always does) last night and she practically collapsed. Justin thinks we really could be near the end (She is almost 17 years old which is old for a large pit-bull). So, I have the suspicion that we are in for a few more serious conversations about death in the near future. Keep me in your prayers that I choose the words carefully an appropriately for a 3 year old.

Paigisms

Every once in a while I just need to recap some of the funny things she says:

- Today I looked at her and she had that smile that says she is up to something. She told me to look the other way. I knew it was because she was picking her nose. I said, "Are you ever going to stop picking your nose? It is so gross." She said. "Yes on Monday, or Thursday". If only I could hold her to it.

- The other day after visiting my mom's friends horse, they were on their way home. My mom was asking if she remembered the horse's names. She said, "Was it bug?". Paige replied, "No, silly, that's what Zane's (A friend of hers) mommy calls him.". My mom said, "What does Nana call you?"(expecting the response love, love). Paige told her "Sometimes you call me Mikaila (My sister)". What can you say? It is so true.

-She asked for a piece of broccoli (which she doesn't like). I gave her one and asked if she wanted butter. She replied "Everybody knows you need butter with broccoli."

-I slept in until 8am the other day. When I got up she says "Mom, why do you like to sleep when its daytime? Are you a teenager? Because Chelsie and KK are teenagers and they sleep late in the daytime."

-She had a balloon that had lost its ability to float. She was playing with it and she says "Mom, I'm trying to make it work, but it won't listen to me."

Paige at 3 Years

Here are some of the things she is doing now.

She has become a very loud backseat driver: I often hear the following:
"Mom- You need to catch up to those cars" (I asked which ones) "All of them, your car is the fastest"
"Mom- Why aren't you going?- The light is Green"

She loves to play "Go Fish" but doesn't fully understand the concept of the game yet.

Quote while decorating the tree "Mom- I love decorating the tree with you- It makes me feel so grown up"

According to Paige "All princesses shouldn't be scared", Why you ask? Because their papa's get rid of the monsters and apparently, so does Aunt Chelsie.

She enjoyed Hawaii so much that she pretty much tells us she is going back there every day. But often she is going on a scooter with her daddy. She doesn't understand that you can only go by plane or boat.

We went to the Dr for her flu shot. She was ready for a shot in her arm, and when the Dr decided that she should get the mist, she was upset. Mostly because she wanted a band aid. The Dr. gave her one and she insisted that we put it on her nose. That's where she got her shot she said.

She is starting to be potty trained- Will hopefully finish that soon.

She loves to make mail and put in envelopes. That is funny because I used to make mail boxes out of paper and then make mail to put in them.

That's all I can think of right now. I will try to remember to add to this as she says funny things.

Hickory Dickory Dock

Paige loves to sing. Her favorite nursery rhyme/song right now is Hickory Dickory Dock.

Paige and Stomper the Elephant

Justin took Paige to the A's game a couple of weeks ago. When you ask her what they did there, she will tell you all about "Stomper" the Elephant and how they could not find him. She is getting better at pronouncing his name, but you can see that she says what appears to be a bad word first.

Kids say the Funniest Things

Paige: "Daddy- You gonna show me something?"
Daddy: "Sure- what do you want to see?"
Paige: "You show me a fart through a magnifying glass?"
Daddy:" You want me to show you a fart through a magnifying glass?"
Paige: "Yeah"

Paige at 2 years old

I hage lots of things to post about Christmas Parties, Christmas itself and the birth of my new niece, but for now I just wanted to write down some things about Paige at 2 years old.

My mom got us the "Elf on a Shelf" last year so we started the tradition this year. We had to name the elf so we named him Egiap (Paige backwards). Paige just calls him "My Self" and she loved to find him.

She can count to ten- kind of. She normally starts with 3, but she usually makes it all of the way to ten.

She loves to hide. She wants to go under the blanket. Most of the time we are hiding from CLO-E who has no intention of finding us, but Paige just laughs and laughs.

She insists on having 3 blankets on her at bedtime. Sometimes she will ask for another blanket, but I usually stop at 3.

She has been working on jumping lately. She doesn't make it off the ground, but she sure tries.

You can almost always find her with her finger up her nose. We are still trying to figure out how to get her to stop.

She is very polite- she always says Thank-you. She is getting better at saying "Please". And she says "I'm Sorry" at really random times for no reason that we know of.

She "cooks" Justin bacon & eggs almost every morning at her play kitchen.

Everything is hers. It is "My ______" or "Paige's _______"

She just loves to be tickled which is having different parts of her body rubbed lightly. She especially loves her tummy, back, arms and legs. Sometimes she says "Tickle Me" and even if you are it is like you aren't doing it right.

She is very opinionated and will let you know what she wants and how you should do it.

Most of the time you can find her striking up conversations with random strangers, but sometimes she can get really shy.

A fan in the Making

Monday was the first official football game of the season. Ok, maybe not the official start of the NFL season, but the official start of my Season. The Patriots were playing at 4PM our time and I was going to watch the game. Of course, I only 1/2 watched the first 2-3 quarters because I had to make dinner, etc. We paused the game to eat, and then started watching more focused. However, I have an adorable almost two year old. She walked up to me, remote in hand, and said "Mickey Mouse please- PLEASE- PLEEEEEESE". I almost gave in, but I said, "No hunny, Mommy is watching football. After a little while she started paying a little attention the game. She crawled up on the couch, and was yelling "RUN, RUN, RUN" at the TV. I had to explain her that we were telling the Patriots to stop the run, but she is not even two yet so I can't complain. She started saying whatever I was yelling at the TV. And she would say, HI Tom when Tom Brady was on the TV. She was awfully cute in her Patriots Cheerleader outfit cheering on her team. Here are some pics of us in our matching gear (Thanks for the cheerleader outfit, Grandpa & Doris).
