This year was fun but hectic! On Tuesday I got a call from the Hotel where we had reserved a 2 bedroom hotel room suite and was advised that they had some issues and it was no longer available. I was not too thrilled since I like having us all in the same room and also the 2 bedroom is the only one with an oven and I had pies to bake, but I have to say the staff was very accommodating. We got a 1 bedroom suite and a studio suite next to each other so ultimately there was more space. The moved an oven into our room and they gave me a discount. So while I got lonely while baking my pies, it was a good fit for us!
Justin picked up Grandma, Stan, Joseph & Tyler on Tuesday. We were able to borrow Dan & Michelle's SUV so we could all fit into one car and saved us the money it would have cost to rent a mini van. They also came up Tuesday night and parked their Trailer in front of our house. It was a bit crowded in the morning but I don't mind the chaos. On wednesday we headed up to Auburn. After hanging out at Minga's house for a bit we checking into our hotel. We stayed there, had a nice dinner and then settled in for the evening and I baked the pies.
Thursday morning we headed back to Mingas, making a Wal-Mart stop on our way. Overall we had a great day. As per usual there was too much food, but lots of family time. I organized a scavenger hunt for the kids after dinner. The next day, Dan & Michelle and their family headed back home. Justin and the rest of us met up with Kevin, Michelle, Chris and their kids and let all of our kids run out their energy at a park. We had one more dinner with the family at Minga's and then we headed back home. We got in late! The next day the boys helped Justin put up the lights and then he took them & Grandma home. What a whirlwind!
