Visiting Family in Auburn

We had fun visiting Justin's grandma's sister and her family in Auburn a couple weeks ago. They come in from Utah every summer and we always try to make the trip up there to see them. It is always hot, but we have a great time playing in water with the kids.

We are so grateful to be able to see them, even if it is just for a short time.

Recent travels and trials

I was fortunate to be asked to go on another work trip to Toronto, Canada this time. And was also able to fit a visit to Cleveland to see family while I was here. I have been looking forward to this trip for a few months, but was also a little nervous. For work, I was performing a audit of our warehouse physical count which I have never done before. Plus, I was leaving Paige for almost a week which is the longest I have left her before.

The week leading up to the trip has been intense. On Wednesday Night, Justin broke his collar bone skateboarding. On Friday, I found out that my mom needed to stay in Boston for a little while longer taking care of my Grandma after her surgery. I started getting a little more anxious about how Justin was going to handle taking care of Paige with only one arm. But I had to go for the work part, and knew if I was needed to come back home, I could change my flight.

On Saturday Morning, I get up to Paige throwing up in her crib. She had a 102 degree fever on Saturday & Sunday. It was really hard for me to get up at 3:30 AM on Monday to catch my 6AM flight knowing that Paige had been sick and Justin was not feeling great. Plus, I was so nervous that I would get sick while on the trip.

Both my flights had slight delays, but I got into Toronto around 6PM. Met up with the salesman who was going to join me, had dinner and then relaxed in my hotel room. I have to admit, for a minute it was nice to be alone. No sick kid, no in pain husband. But it was also hard. Luckily Paige had woken up feeling better. And my sisters Chelsie & Mikaila really helped a lot.

The warehouse audit and the visits with the two brokers I work with in the area went well. It wasn't as scary as I had imagined and I enjoyed putting faces to the names of people I have worked with- some for several years now. It was a whirlwind.

I finally landed in Ohio on Wednesday Night. I had a nice dinner with my family and got to meet my brothers fiance and her 3 kids. Plus I got to see my nephew Brady which was so nice. The next morning I got to sleep in finally. We went and saw my brothers new office and had lunch at Cracker Barrel. Then we went and played Golf. Not Mini Golf, but real golf. It is a Womens league at a par 3 course. It was a fun night where we were only allowed to use 3 clubs and drink beer if we wanted too. I didn't do as bad as I thought and it was a good time.

The next day we met up with my other sister, Jen, and got a tour of the newsroom she works in. We had lunch with her and then went to see Twilight. I haven't seen a movie in the theater in over a year, so it was nice to just relax and enjoy it. I was surprised that I didn't hate it. We went out and had a glass of wine last night and went swimming in Danielle's heated pool which was great.

Today, we have a pool party for the 4th! And then I am home. It is hard sometimes because I just love family so much. And most of mine is spread across the country. I wish we could all live in the same place. The house next door to my sisters is for sale for $149,000. It isn't bad either. I know that I will never be able to move away from California, but sometimes it is sooo tempting. But I also know that I wouldn't get paid what I do now and so that probably wouldn't work.

Looking forward to picking up my daughter and giving her a big hug. But for now I am going to enjoy my last day of only worrying about me.
