Kindergarten Open House

It was so fun visiting Paige's classroom and seeing all of the fun projects.  One of the things that was sent home was a journal.  Every week they would write something about their weekend.  Seeing how her writing has approved since the beginning of the year was amazing.

Teaching our kids how to serve

The family to family group at our church organized a service project to spend a couple of hours at a nursing home in the area.  We are always up for these kind of experiences because we believe it is important to teach our daughter how to serve others.  We did name her "Young servant" after all and she already has a servants heart so we want to encourage it.

Paige & I with some of the other moms and children got to participate in the exercise time which was tougher than I thought.  Then Paige did puzzles with some of them, and I did cross words with others.  And we just talked to them and got to know them.  Some of them were quite the hoot.  Never know what is going to come out of their mouths.  Justin ended up with some of the other parents in lock down section (Which I figured out when I took Paige to see what he was up to and set off the alarm trying to get back out).  He said it was a lot harder because most of them couldn't hold a conversation.  But there was a great worker that talked to him and helped him communicate.   We were so glad for the opportunity to serve and look forward to serving our community in other ways.

Mothers Day/My 35th Birthday

I woke up on mothers day to a creative gift wrapping.  The pictures don't do it justice but it was a picture of me and it was almost as tall as me.   They got me some slim jims (Most of which Paige has eaten at this point), a dish brush and new walking shoes).  We went to church and then had lunch at my moms.  It was a nice relaxing day!  Couldn't have asked for anything better.  And at least the school questionaire didn't ask my age this year, but now I am 1001 lbs even though my favorite food is "helfy" (Healthy)!

The next day was my 35th birthday.  I am struggling a bit with this age.  Mostly because it is the age I had set as the latest I want to have children.  So the pressure is on.  Either we start trying this year to have another baby (if we want one/???) or we close that door.  It has been a struggle but the day itself was fun.  We had some of our closest friends over for dinner and my family.  My mom made pistachio cupcakes, Chai Tea Latte Cupcakes and also whoopie pies.  MMMM.  Sadly the only pictures I took that night were of Stephanie and Denise and their adorable babies getting together for the first time.

Teacher Appreciation Week

The class mom in Paige's Kindergarten class had some great things arranged for Mrs Firpo.  Every day we brought different things.  Of course I did not take any pictures.  I wanted to do something fun for the kids club teachers and aide's but I just didn't have time this year to make a bunch of gifts.  So I went to one of my favorite places, Nothing Bundt Cakes and ordered a dozen Buntinis.  I put a sign that said "Thanks a Bundt
ch for all that you do".  They really enjoyed it and it was easy to do.

The first and second & third lost teeth!

Paige has been dreaming about loosing her teeth for years!  And finally she had a loose tooth.  However, she had to have a molar pulled because of an infection underneath it before the front one came out.   So she had a visit from the tooth fairy twice in one week.  And then a week or two later her second front tooth fell out.  It was quite a a whirlwind around here.   However, the real news is how the two front tooth came out.  The first one was super loose and she had been playing with it for a while.  We were talking about pulling it out so she started pulling and twisting herself.  But after a little bit she headed to the park, where she proceeded to pull it out, herself!  She came home bleeding but so happy.   A few weeks later the one next to it was loose.  She pulled it out herself again, this time during church.  Thank GOD my parents were working in Children's ministry that morning.   Sometimes she can be such a girl, but this time she was a rock star.  I don't know any other girls who just pull out their own loose teeth.  I have memories of my dad pulling out mine while I was whining the whole time.

The tooth fairy brought her $5 for her first tooth and $1 for each tooth after.   We put the tooth in the tooth pillow I made and put under her pillow.  We also place a clear glass with water next to her bed.  In the morning there is $ in the pillow and the water is a different color.  Rumor has it that the color of the water is the color of the tooth fairy's dress.  Paige loves it!
